Job Description

Summary  

The ideal candidate is responsible for all maintenance and construction tasks for ASC facilities. Maintain facilities in a manner that extends life of equipment and all ASC assets along with conserving energy as a top priority. Be willing and able to help with any company wide task as needed and directed by ASC management.

The budgeted pay rate for this position is $22 per hour. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to do carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, snow removal, cleaning and all other routine facility maintenance and construction task
  • Proficient with all hand, power and pneumatic tools and the ability to use them safely, and must maintain all tools in a clean and orderly condition while maintaining a clear, uncluttered work area
  • Operate and maintain an Aspen Skiing Company truck
  • Report all safety hazards and suspicious persons or activities to management. Adhere to all safety standards set by the department and company along with local, city and state laws
  • Review and inspect all life safety systems to ensure proper testing and operation
  • Report to shift on time and complete work order assignments in a timely manner
  • Is able to carry out preventative maintenance programs
  • Has basic knowledge of electrical switches and relays, and understand power requirements
  • Implement and maintain energy conservation measures on a routine basis.
  • Must be able to set or change a faucet, re-plumb a sink, service waterless fixtures, sweat and solder a pipe, perform other building related plumbing issues, and participate in sewer repairs
  • Works safely around trenching and shoring operations
  • Familiar and trained for lock-out/tag-out and confined spac
  • Know and support ASC’s Guiding Principles. Actively work to minimize environmental impacts while making every effort to ensure co-workers are provided opportunities to engage in their community
  • Comply with all policies and procedures for the department, and Aspen Skiing Company
  • Be familiar with fire and safety procedures. Assist in the event of an emergency and/or security event as directed by management 
  • Complete tasks and projects delegated by your manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand
  • Will assist with other Facility Management and ASC functions as needed
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of facility equipment and tools
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of who will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information, and offer assistance with guest problems
  • Respond to all guests and internal customers for assistance, directions, and company information and must ensure that your Manager is aware of guest comments and concerns 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in Facility Management, construction or similar field preferred
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to operate a computer proficiently (Microsoft Office programs).
  • Able to write and speak English
  • Must have valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard at an advanced level
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA standards and application for working with chemicals and practicing OSHA safety-standards on all applicable jobs.

Supervision Given and Received

Supervision Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Supervision Received: Works under general supervision of the Facilities Manager. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.

Work Environment and Physical Demands  

Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand or be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time

Regularly work in adverse conditions and required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces 

Must be able to regularly lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
